96/97 Fuel filter difference?

Just sold my 96 and now have a 97 (12valves rule) the fuel filter on the 97 looks like a canister type instead of a spin on like the 96. Is this original equipment? and if so what is the procedure for a change. By the way if anyone has a 97 shop manual for sale I could sure use one.

I have an "early 98" and I have the cannister type fuel filter. Everyone tells me the early 98 12 valve engine is the same as the 97, so I'd say it came that way.

Yes,the cannister style is correct. I think Fritz's site has detailed instructions on the filter change.
