I need to check the fuel pressure on my 96 and see that the service manual calls for an adapter to replace the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter assembly. Trouble is that I can't seem to find the adapter. I was told to drill out the banjo bolt and tap it for 1/8NPT but foresee bad things happening. My only other thought (than getting the correct adapter) is to place a tee in the line between the filter and injection pump. Any ideas??

Don't put a tee... That is three potential leaks instead of one :) . . Tap the banjo bolt. Nothing to it. Just drill from the inside out to keep it straight. Tap it. Make sure it is sqeaky clean(no shavings)before you put it back on your pump and you'll have no problems. Use pipe dope (not teflon tape)to seal the pipe threads. Good luck with it. ;)

I removed the banjo bolt at the injection pump and tapped it to 1/8 NPT for my FP gauge. I then used a grease gun hose from Napa to a small ball valve for a snubber/shut-off valve. It has worked well on my truck, when drilling the banjo bolt, drill from the inside and tap from the outside. Obviously, this is the clean side of the filter so make sure everything is spotless. :)

When you take the Banjo bolt out there are two copper washers. One between the bolt head and fuel line and one between the fuel line and pump. The one between the fuel line and pump is easy to lose.
