Honda Rincon atv With automatic 3-speed and locking torque conv.

Did not where else to post this.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I did not know where else to ask.

Is there anyone who can help with information on servicing a '96 Toyota 5 speed manual transmission.

The bearing on the main shaft is seized. Need to know how to take it apart.

Thanks, Ron

Sticky bearing!

I had a center bearing on a '95 Nissan transmission that was on the mainshaft that wouldn't budge. I couldn't find any shop with a press that could get on it either. Then a mechanic friend of mine told me what to do. I used an air hammer with a round pointed tip placed in a divot on the mainshaft while the bearing was held in a vise. I oiled it good with spray oil and tapped it right out. I installed the new one the same way. I hope this helped. Good luck! HerbW:D

Thanks Guys. I finally got it apart and not only was the mainshaft bearing was frozen, the gear that was part of the mainshaft had melted off!!!

The mateing gear on the counter shaft was worn flat. Now I need the main input shaft and bearing, and counter shaft and bearing.

Thanks for the input. Now I'll be looking for parts.

I have a 86 4x4 and about 5 yrs back the gear shift handle lifted out of the socket for the 3rd time. There was a plastic bushing on the bottom of it that fell down into the transmission. It locked in 5th gear. Using low range to get it up to 35 mph then shifting the low-high selector into high range I made it to Chets(mechanic friend) shop. When we split the cases the plastic part fell out. When we tore down the transmission we did not know what to expect. We sealed it back up and it has run fine until recently.

Now the tail shaft bearing is going out @ 134 K. Now it Slings oil and vibrates. I only ru it in hunting season.
