My dad keeps getting water in the passenger floorboard of his '97 Ram. I've removed the blower motor and cleaned and blew out the evaporator core and drain. However, water is still getting into the floorboard. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I'm an experienced heavy equipment A/C tech, but this is a little different and I also don't have the truck to work on for a long time. I sort of need to know what to look for so that it can be fixed in a morning's work.

If you are sure the a/c condensate drain is open and you can see the water draining outside the firewall, then the only item I can think of is a cracked hvac lower housing. Check the housing for leaks when the a/c is running. If no leak is found, then the water could be coming in from the windshield seal when it is raining or the vehicle is washed.

I put a piece of plastic tubing over the horizontal drain and zip tied it to point to the ground. That solved my leak problem.

I was thinking about doing that trick with the tube on the drain. Did you use any sort of anti drainback valve, or just a few inches of tube?

ditto on the tube, i do it on other cars with short drain peckers and it usually solves the problem, doesn't really need to be that long just that it points down so that the water can't run back along the bottom of the tube

If the hose does not fix it you may have a leaking 3rd brake light on the back of the cab. If it leaks the water runs around the rear floor and shows up in the front.

I'm gonna do the hose trick this weekend. I'm 99% sure that it's condensate getting into the floorboard because it only does it in the summer time.

On a side not, does anyone know a good source for a new sun visor? (pass side w/mirror) Dealer says they're discontinued and internet sources I've found so far haven't been specific enough to convince me of what I'm getting.

The drain problem is very prevelent when a owner levels the front of the truck also. It allows the air to pass underneath more and will just force the water back into the cab instead of it dropping out. The tube trick is what I also did to mine to fix the issue..... Andy

If the drain tube doesn't do it for you I ditto the guys who mentioned leaking seals. I had the same problem and the dealer chased it for about a week because it happened just after they did some A/C work. They said the 3rd brake light is common for this sort of thing, but were surprised when that wasn't it. They pressurized the cabin with a smokey vapor and looked where it was coming out of the cabin and fixed the bad seal. Never did tell me exactly which spot it was, just that there was nothing wrong with the a/c or 3rd light.
