Chris,

Whatever happened with your transmission?

Did you finally figure it out?

Inquiring minds want to know.

i ran into the same problem, it turned out the line pressure was too high causing gov press solenoid to leak pressure so the computer thought the truck was moving and never downshifted into 1st. a simple adjustment and the resistor in the signal ground fixed it.

John & Pete,

Sorry I haven't posted anything, I have ben very busy with other projects. I took ohm's readings on the governor pressure solenoid and the temp sensor. The governor solenoid is showing open, and the temp sensor is reading the same at any temperature. I did get in the warranty PCM from Florida, installed it, did all the same tests, driving and with the scanner, and their was no differance. I still had the same codes. I took it back to the transmission shop Friday, explained everything that I did and about the shifter linkage I adjusted, and as soon as he gets some time he is going to put his scanner on it and do all the tests he had performed with the other PCM. I told him if everything looks the same to him and he does not have any other ideas to replace all the sensors and solenoids this time and we will see what happens. Just as a reminder the first time they only replaced governor pressure solenoid and governor pressure sensor, and I had not installed the resistor yet.

Thanks for all the help, from all of you!

Chris

Hey Guys,

Friday I went to check on the truck at the transmission shop, and they were out test driving it. They did replace all the solenoids and sensors this time. When he returned he said that it is taking off in 1st and shifting thru all the gears including 4th and lock-up, but he said it is shifting way to early, and at one point he floored it to make it down shift and it thru a TPS high voltage code. We discussed this and he said he was going to check theTPS itself maybe not set or adjusted correctly, and check the T. V. cable to see how it is set, maybe adjust it. I told him I would let him check these two out and on Monday today after work I wanted to check voltage on the PCM orange wire (were I installed resistor) and the TPS.

If any of you have any other thoughts I am open.

Thanks,

Chris

No I have not read up on how to set it yet. I have messed around with one before on another truck with a meter on the return watching the 0-5 VDC signal. I'm not sure what (mods) means or stands for.

Thanks,

Chris

budnate,

Thanks for the link back to one of your previous articles. I have read that one before, just forgot about it.

Thanks,

Chris

pull it off and lube up its insides and meter it, if it checks out ok , then hog out the holes and play around with initial voltage settings, I am up to 1. 2V on mine now.

it takes driving it and having all your tools and stool in the rig to make adjustments out on the road till it all starts working right, at least thats what I did it was good to be able to hop on and off the freeway to make sure it hit all gears right with your foot in it and not dodging cops and slow pokes .

and one more thing I pierced the wires at the TPS plug wireing with diaper pins and clipped my meter leads on that way and that left both hands to twist the TPS and set the screws so it would stay where I wanted it... they want to rotate back sometimes and lose your signal you want during the snug down process.
