I hate to ask this on this website, but I was wondering if any of you EX- GASSER owners or anyone else know of a website or something similar to TDR, for a '97 GMC 3500 454. My old man is having problems with it. Unless maybe someone on here can help. His fuel gauge has gone bad. Apparently it's the gauge its self. The shop he took it too, wants $350 to fix it. I can't help but think that is WAY too much (this guy is a croook anyway), I also can't help but think it cant be that hard to replace. So if anyone has any input on websites or what to do replace the gauge let me know. TIA

Try a parts recycler [junkyard] . The guy who takes it out for you can prolly tell you how to replace it . I can tell you that the sending unit is in the tank and attached to a bracket with the fuel pump. It is a float attached to an arm. I just replaced a fuel pump on a 92 gasser [ in tank pusher] . Was not worn out ,but had easy access to it so it was replaced.

Hope this info is'nt too simple; for all I know, all senders are like this one. Hope this helps.

Well, I did find out that it is the sending unit, so we are gonna call around and price one. I am assuming that it can't be that expensive (shop wanted $350 just for the unit) nor can it be too awful hard to change if I go by what other members on here have done in changing it on their CTD's.

Just need access to top of tank or drop tank. Unlock bent tab in lock ring and remove lock ring . Fuel pump and sending unit com out together.
