suggestions on gooseneck horse trailers

Need lockup in 1st & 2nd with Exhaust brake?

Here's, the situation: My truck is for sale (ordering an 03) and I have a very interested buyer who will be flying in to buy the truck and drive it back. Along the way he will be picking up a trailer he has already purchased (which is in need of a truck... which turns out to be mine :) ).

Anyway, I have a 2001 3500 4x4. His trailer is a:

Does anybody have one of these, will the axles need to be relocated due to bed height?

2nd question: I have rails in the bed for a Reese 14k hitch. I'm keeping my hitch, so he will be buying one. Are there other brands that will fit these rails or will only a Reese fit the rails (I'm talking about fitting the rails without having to remove/relocate them).

thanks for the help

Hitches and height

Yes, there are some other hitches that will fit the Reece rails, Drawtight being one. If the Newmar happens to have 8,000 axles it will be a little taller than most. Should be able to tow it home at least. bg

He will likely end up having to have work done to either raise the trailer or remove the spacers on the truck. He should be able to get it home, although I've seen some truck trailer combos that need work from the get go.

The rails you have in your truck will work with drawtite or reese. As you have the 14K though, he will have to install new rails to step up to a 16K or 20K. The rails for the 14K and 15K are the same.
