Just lost the clutch, wont shift up or down :{ . Pushing down on the pedal is like doing nothing at all. I had a buddy push the pedal while I was under the truck and can see a little tang next to the slave cylinder moving in and out. I assume this is an indicator of some kind to show that the fork is moving. I can also feel the fluid moving from through the line from the master to the slave.

Truck has always had a shudder off the line, well for the 80K miles I have had it anyway (190,000mi). It has been getting tougher to shift into reverse and now that I think of it 1st and 2nd gave me trouble every now and then but heck it's a truck and I double clutch alot anyway.

Any Ideas would be helpful

Anybody ? ?

Brought it to my trusty mechanic and of course it was fine when he drove it. I think I want to start by replacing the master and slave but he could only find it at the dealer for $370. That sounds nuts. anybody find a better price and where?

Thnaks Games, I have already ordered a master and slave ($184 dodgeparts.com). Figured I would start there. Next will be the pilot bearing, clutch, and related items. Could you expain how a bad pilot bearing would keep the clutch from disengaging. I would think it would cause the clutch to slip if anything.

Thanks Adam

PS. my steering still sucks.

If the pilot bearing doesn't turn the trans input shaft will turn the same speed as the engine as if the clutch were engaged. If the pilot bearing or bushing is working correctly , when you depress the clutch pedal the input shaft will coast to a stop (if the truck is stopped) because it is driven by the clutch plate and the clutch and pressure plate is disengaged. Make sense?
