A short history. A transmission shop gorilla managed to install my speed sensor wrong resulting in a broken shaft. All the dealers had to special order, and I couldn't wait, so I found one at a transmission repair shop that was used. It lasted about 800 miles, then the cruise started to surge, then the speedo went to zero, then back to working, back and forth, etc. The dealer in Colorado Springs had one in stock, so I bought it and installed it which involved splicing in a new plug. Here is the problem, the speedo and cruise work just fine, but the mile counter varies from nothing to 1 :1 mile traveled. From Amarillo to Wichita Falls it counted off 20. 9 miles. My wire diagram shows 1 wire to ground, 1 to a 5 volt supply and the third splits with one signal to the PCM and the other to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster only shows the speedometer, not the odometer. Anyone have an idea where to go from here? I'll be back home in a couple of days and can take the dash apart then, but would like some input about possible repair.

Sure wish I had this problem when I was in warranty :-laf :-laf

This is pretty much totally off topic from your post... I did a Cummins/6-speed/241 conversion into my GMC and I am having problems wiring up my speedo. I saw above that you saw in your manual the 3 wires and 1 was ground, one was a 5volt supply and the other was the pickup to the dash. Any chance you can look at the diagram again and tell me the colors of wires that each one does? it would be an extreamly huge help!

Thanks in advance!

Sure, BK/LB is ground. OR is the 5 volt and WT/OR is the speed sensor signal. Hope this helps.
