I have a friend here in Omaha that recently bought a 97 off Ebay for $9300. Well, he called me today to ask about his oil drain, as he said he had to hold something in that was spring loaded to get the oil to drain. He also mentioned that whatever he has was spinning in the drain hole and did't seem removable. Anybody know what he might have on there? I suspect there is something missing that he didn't get with the truck when he bought it. Any thoughts or ideas on what he might have would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like he's got one of those aftermarket drain plugs like Geno's sells. Look in their website to see if one of them works that way. One type needs a part that goes up into the plug and has a hose attached . I think it does a half turn before locking in and draining. He should be able to remove the remnant and put in an OEM plug if he wants.

Thanks for the inputs. I will pass on what you sent and hope that we have found the answer.

I really appreiate it!
