'98 12V axle swap w/ '99 24V

I'm getting ready to swap axles with a guy that has a '98 12V with 4. 10's... my truck's a '99 24V with 3. 54's. Both trucks are 2500's, both are autos, so from what I can tell the axles should be the same. Is there anything that we are going to run into that I am not aware of, or should it be a straightforward swap? Also, since I'm running 315's will I need to do anything to get the transmission to shift correctly with the 4. 10's?

So no one has swapped axles... or gears? I'm driving 1200 miles round trip to make this swap. It would suck to run into some problem that I'm not aware of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would guess they are the same. I can't think of anything that would bedifferent. Maybe an automotive recycling facility (junkyard) could help. They know what works and what doesn't.

My only concern is if theya re both the same steering setup. I think 1998 was the first year of the new steering geometry so you should be all set.
