Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) '98 12v fuel filter question....

I want to check my fuel pressure this weekend and have a couple quick questions. Does anyone have a diagram of just the fuel filter, like a cross-reference image?

Also, the two fittings on top of the filter where the fuel comes in and goes out of the filter, what size are those? They are just plugs right? If they are 1/8" NPT can I just go get some 1/8" NPT fittings, couple needle valves, some hose and connect it all to my 25 psi pressure and vacuum gauge and get a pressure reading? I think it is that the easy way but I have never removed those plugs on top of the filter housing, if that is what they are and that is the easiest place to check fuel pressure?

Yeah, I have been searching forums for a while and seeing some photos would be good.



My truck has been off the road since last January when my lines gelled (I am assuming) when we had a sudden cold snap down to around 0* for a few days and I got caught without additive in the tank. #@$%!

So I just drove my Jeeps all summer and never did get the prime back on my CTD. So now that the cold weather is approaching once again I figured I'd try to fix this thing.



Since I am FSM challenged (as in I don't have one) any help on this would be appreciated.



Also, an FP gage would be a great addition especially after all the threads I have been reading about failed LP's not being discovered until a filter change is attempted.

Your not hijacking the thread, you want to know that same things I want to know. I just couldn't find the answers I was looking for in the search, so I thought I would just ask.

Yes Joe they are 1/8 npt. I use a schraeder valve from an r-12 system. Then you can use a standard fuel pressure gauge set up. I would recomend using at least a 50 psi gauge so you have enough room to play. If you pinch off the return line you can damage a lower pressure gauge.
