Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 98.5 VP44 replacement ????

My injector pump failed @ 175k. How important is the key size on the pump shaft? My original is .032, the one on my replacement is .036. Should I use my old key one on the new pump? I ordered my new one from BD. No tech support on weekends.

The key number will be on the tag on the pump. It should match the 036 key that was sent with the pump. Regardless, I would use the key that came with the pump. That is how the pump is calibrated. It has to do with timing. These instructions seem pretty thorough:
