So my buddy just bought his first ctd, and since mine is out of commission with a bad transmission:{ i put my super chip program in his truck. I was expecting the same quick and snappy throttle response... But no, it seemed to have the same stock throttle response and only puffed out a little bit of smoke. It seemed a little faster than stock but not the same performance increase as my truck.

Also his truck had an HX-35 instead of the HY-35 like mine had stock (now equip with HX-35). We were told his truck was butt stock. We also looked for the fuel filter and banjo bolt with the shrader valve for a fuel psi gauge. But the whole fuel system looked different.

Can someone tell me if the 98. 5 came stock with an HX-35; where the fuel filter is and a good port for a fuel psi gauge; and if some one understand why the chip didn't work as well in his than mine, both motors are stock with HX-35s and 4:10 gear.

What are some better chips for the 98. 5??

Thanks

Hi The 1998. 5 and 1999 do not have the test fitting on the pump banjo bolt like the 2000+ Use the 1/8 pipe fitting that is closer to the pump (VP44) for pressure checks. The fitting on the right is from the lift pump the one on the left is after the filter and the important one.

I have a Super Chips and it is VIN locked to my 1998. 5 and cannot be used on my 1999. It will only read codes on my 99. I do not think that you changed anything with the programmer.

Thanks for the info, i used the programmer in my truck to return everything to stock. Was there another step to remove the vin lock from my truck? What turbo came on your truck?

Hi

I just talked to Superchips and they tell me that the tuner can be used on another truck if the first one is returned to stock. There is just enough memory to hold one stock program at the time. (407) 585-7000

I do not know what turbo that I have, how can I tell the difference?

Robert

There is a tag on the front of the turbo... . says holset in blue. This tag will have a serial number & a model number.
