Attached is a pic of the gearshift lever in our '98 12v. As you can see it's a mess. I've been looking for one at the local wrecking yards and have come to find out that this is a common problem. I was wondering how others have dealt with this problem. I am considering just pulling all the rubber crap off of it, put a nice wooden end on it and put the switch in a different location. Let me know what you think.

Mine was actually in good shape. Then I cut it up.





I bought an old mustang that had a NOS t-handle shifter in it. When I scrapped the Mustang, I kept the shifter.



Let me know if you can't see the picture. It doesn't fit tight, I need to make a permanent adapter, but it's held in just fine for almost a year and ~14k miles so far.
