yeah, I can't get down w/ all that stainless! :(

I say spittin' mad because my 98 QC/SB red sport had stained paint because someone put that trash on the rockers :(

I didn't realize you had all those mods, your asking price sounds perfectly fine!

I got $17k for my last 98 :)

I apologize Forest, it's just that I've worked long and hard to keep that truck in perfect shape but it seems that no one is interested in buying it even though everyone says that the 98 12 valve is the "holy grail" of Dodge trucks. "They are so rare" and "everyone is holding onto them". I guess I'm destined to have two large one ton dually's in my garage. Wife doesn't like it but it's great with me. Wife's car gets left outside now.

I guess the reason for the wide post is that I tried to edit the original post and for some reason it started adding those +s clear across the screen. The only way I could stop it was to hit the "safe" button.

well, I will say that this is a tricky time of year to sell stuff... I, on the other hand, am ALWAYS shopping like crazy this time of year! :) love new toys!

it's a tricky time to sell because people are pinching pennies to pay for the holidays, they're scheduling trips to grandmas, etc.

also, unfortunately, the used diesel market has taken a fairly serious hit lately. I'm guessing all those people who don't NEED a big diesel truck are finally through paying out the nose for fuel and are trying to get out of them.

Heck, I'm seeing some NICE 3rd gens up for sale in the $15-18k range!

good for buyers, bad for sellers. If the truck isn't costing you anything, just hold out for the right buyer, it only takes one! :)

I had offers as low as $12-13k for my red 98. I got $17k for it w/ stock injectors and turbo

Thanks for all the info. I don't plan on giving it away. I'm not hurting for the cash, I'm hurting for the garage space. Yes, I'll sit on it until someone who wants to tow comes along. I currently drive it once a week to keep the batteries up and the oils moving. Like I said who knows if it's ment to be that I keep it. I'll know when the time comes. I'm old enough to remember in the 70's when the first gas crunch happened. They were giving away big block gassers that are now worth hundres of thousands of dollars. Chevelles with 454s and Chryslers with 426 hemis and 440 Dodges Mustang GTs 350/500s are all now in the $200,000 range. No, I'll just sit on it and enjoy having two bohemith chargers. It does look impressive to open the garage door and see two duallys looking at me. Getting beside/between them is the problem. Luckily I have a 2400 square foot garage and they only eat up 1/6 of the total space. All my other "junk" eats up the rest. :-laf

No, I haven't tried ebay. I've thought about it but haven't done it. I figured if the well informed brotheren on the TDR site don't want it for a desent price then the local population won't either. I could be wrong. I retire at the end of this year (8 more work days) and I'll have time to deal with that opinion.

Thanks Forest and sorry I grouched at 'ya.

eh, no harm no foul :)

ebay can be stressful/annoying due to the possibility of flakey bidders, non payment, etc. BUT, it will also expose the vehicle to a LOT more people than these forums!

Good luck w/ the sale, I say spend one more holiday season with the old girl and get her up on ebay after the new year begins. Can't hurt to post it sooner, you can always re-list it if it doesn't meet your reserve, but my gut tells me you'll get your best money after Jan1

I am looking at a '98 quad cab, short bed, 5spd, 4X4, sport SLT for a friend. It has 160,000 mi and is in good to excellent condition, The asking price is $14,995, what do you all think, is this about right?

I see you are in OR. there is a blue on on craigs list in Olympia, WA I think he is down to $11K. it has been on there for months.
