The ones that have this model how is the power??? would like anyone that can please measure the pins on the APPS pins 1/2 and 1/6 I have measured 9 new ones now and they measure from 2654 ohms to 3. 62 meg (million )ohms. For what I read more than 100 k ohms is an open circuit and contact resistance of < 125 ohms is required or the ECM to work. Mine measures 2. 64 meg ohms and the idle/off-idle does change states the ones that I measured the other day were just under the million ohms and didn't change state of idle and off-idle like they are suposed to do?????? This junk now bucks up to 1650 rpm and has a new steady bearing and u-joints. I regreat the day that I ever bought this piece of JUNK!!!!!!!!!! :{

I hate to rub anything in your face but I just turned 100k on my 01 and I have never had a Problem not even lift pump I have always ran pusher pump though

1. Cab leak at lights I think never been able to fix warranty.

2. Transmission problem governor warranty.

3. Ball joints at 59,000 then destroyed hubs to remove $1,809. 00

4. Wiring harness short at 64,000 $492. 50 Plus tow $150. 00

5. Lift pump at 58,000 warranty.

6. Rust on door fold, I painted with POR-15 I did all interior door panels with 3M interior panel spray when new thank goodness!

Few other smaller dealer items I can't remember.

Not a great showing. :--)

2002 never back to the dealer for anything. Original lift pump still putting out 16+ PSIG pre and post filter at idle. Oh, yeah, I do have a bad back-up light switch that I'll replace one of these days.....

My 98. 5 is running good and just made 100K+ miles last week. The well known funky shift on the 48RE between 1-2 up shift is my only gripe. I have learned to drive "around it" so it isn't an issue anymore.

Only mod is the Dodge performance ECM that I managed to snag off of eBay a while back. Added maybe 50 hp, very noticable.

Brakes sometimes pull in a panic stop, checked and the slider pins are bad. Need to replace them.

Radio or speaker has quit working on the left front channel. 'gonna fix it "someday"...

45900 miles- replaced LP @ 44040 as a precaution. Will add pusher soon. Purchased w/34400 miles. Previous owner tried to light up too much trailer and melted/fused the insullation on the wiring harness under the dash. He even put a 40amp fuse in a 20amp slot. #ad
No other problems.

I have 154K miles on my 99 right now. I just changed out the original clutch at 140K, the original lift pump at 145K and the original vp44 at 149K. Other than that, I checked my fuel mileage last week and I am getting better than 22mpg around town and driving to and from work.

I have nothing to complain about. Everything else is as delievered from Dodge. Guess I am lucky!

I recommended this to you about a month and a half ago and you never replied:

An OBD II scanner will tell you exactly what all the sensors are sending to the ecm because the ECM is what's being read. You can read it live while you drive the truck. By doing that you'll know if the APPS, MAP, and IAT sensors are reading appropriately and whether there is an issue with the wiring harnesses to them.

Did you ever try that? I really think that this would give you your answers. Pay a mechanic an hour or two to bring his scan tool with you and to ride around in your truck and look at what all the different sensors are doing as you drive. That will tell you what the ECM is seeing and will most likely pinpoint at least what system your issue is in. At that point it could be wiring, sensors, etc but at least you'll be pointed in the general direction.

99 QC LB 3500. 140,000. Truck has always been stock. Nothing but shocks, tires, brakes and fresh fluids and filters. Got rid of stock LP and added Holley Pusher in front of tank. Runs great! Might need front or rear U-joints soon.

Steve,

What brand of OBD II scanner do you use or recommend? I would like to get one that can read also read 1986 GM.

86,000 miles and never any major problems. Blew a rear axle seal at 55,000 and had a rear tailshaft start to leak around 65,000 but everything was under warranty. Also had my stoplight switch to quit working but that was a quick $13 fix.

Sorry you're having so many problems.

The 1986 GM is not OBDII compliant. You can buy a scanner to do both but it will be expensive.

I don't have one. I have only needed the use of one once and we had an event at a dealer at that time and the mechanic hooked his up for me. Do a search on the board on alex pepper and you should find some threads on a laptop based one that a number of people on here are using.

Thanks Steve. Yes went off to work for several weeks and then in and out again . Could maybe should do this again but. Spent money on the heating part this last week for there was no fan to move heat into the cab at -30+ I couldn't do with out it. I have spent soooooo much money on this that I am sure that this is an APPS problem and it is what is measuring bad according to the info that I have and need to be clairified to my satisfaction. What I feel that it is is the off-idle part of the cct that has way to much resistance for the ECM to see a change of state to tell the FPCM to advance the fuel timing. ( For this is exactly what it isn't doing you advance the throttle and all it does is rev NO power) The DRB might be seeing the change of state but if it was to I would still say that the ECM isn't seeing it because of the very high resistance. Cummins info Bulletin # 3666480 Wiring diagram for Dodge Ram 24 Valve Turbo Diesel 1999 Model year says that you have an open cct if the reisistance is over >100 K ohms. At 2. 64 million ohms ( the off-idle pins 1/2 )the ecm must see an open cct and fuels accordingly. Sorry what else did miss? And Iam very broke for awhile.

I've got 76,000, no "major" problems, did replace crank position sensor. I don't know, it seems that these trucks just have a few minor problems, and if you are aware of them so that if they do happen, you know it is not serious. I love my truck, and I love driving it. It just purrs on the highway, like no other!

Truck in sig has over 100k on the odo and is just a smig over 500hp still running a OEM lift pump with drilled banjos and a 53 block with no problems. Truck has never been in for any major repairs. Only repairs to date are pressure line on the AC (covered under warranty), rear pinion seal (my cost $63 at the dealer), and one cab clearance light seal and trip computer (out of warranty but dealer covered). Anything else has been self inflicted by my BOMB's.

I think I bought a good one and I plan on keeping it. Truck was built on the 3rd of July in 98 at the Mexico factory and was shipped to me by the 24th of August with my name on the window sticker. :)

My son has a 2001 with 80k and only problem at all is the lift pump and injector pump but my understanding is if the lift pump goes bad the injector pump does to other than that not one problem
