Just found my 99 dashboard cracked in two all the way from the instrument panel trim ring (by steering wheel) down to the defroster vent by the window.

THIS SUCKS!

Anybody ever heard of this?

I bet a new dash is going to cost me plenty.

You should have seen the look on my face. :--)

Mine cracked about two inches above the defrost vent on both sides. Had mine fixed under warrenty. It took them over five hours to install a new dash. They had to rip the whole dash apart to get the thing back in.

Dash is dark grey. Still busted. Dealer wants $1100. 00 for a new one or $1500. 00 installed.

I think one of those dash rug thingies looks pretty good right about now. ;)

Groover.....

One of our M-D TDR members Rammin On had his dash do exactly the same thing in his 95 SLT last winter. Dashes are not a cheap item from the stealer and with the current labor rates you will be raped properly if it is not under warranty. Let me know if you need a dash as the same gentleman I got Keiths from has now got a 99 in his yard he is parting out. I scavanged all of the factory Burlwood pieces, but, the rest of the dash is complete and is Agate in color. If it a project you might want to tackle, and a project it is,let me know if we can help..... Andy

My 99 has a crack in the top of the dash also!! Starts up by the defroster vent. What's up with this?? Maybe Geno's garage needs to start carrying dash covers for the 99's!!!

I think Geno's does carry dash covers. From what I can find out it seems to be a problem on 99 and 00 trucks. DC probably will never recognize the problem on their dime.

DBOYD - Notice you are a John Deere man. I have a 1956 "80" model that I am rebuilding. The younger brother to your "R". A 472 cubic inch two cylinder - gotta love it.
