Does anybody know off the top of there head what size the wheel studs are on a dually? Size and thread pitch. I am trying to get ready for a tire swap to bigger tires and spacers but the spacers don't have the same size studs as the oem ones. I need to find different lug nuts.

Thanks

I put 255-85R16's on my truck a couple months ago so I can let you know what I went through.

First I ordered 1. 25 inch spacers from Performance Wheel. Great place to deal with, they had the spacers to me within a week. At least in my case I only needed a 1 inch spacer so I had them remachined. The studs were the same thread and pitch (9/16 - 18 if I remember right) as the originals. Now comes the fun part, trying to find wheel studs. The 1 ton studs are at least . 80 to long. I had a few options. I could grind the original studs. I could counter bore the wheel, or I could find shorter studs. I chose the shorter stud route. The studs from a 3/4 ton were the length I needed. Dodge wanted around $12. 50 per stud. Ouch. Went to NAPA and paid around $1. 60 per stud. I used one of the original flanged nuts to pull them through the axle flange and it worked great.

I should mention that I also changed to American Eagle wheels at the same time. These wheels are lug centric, not hub centric like the original wheel. I have heard of people using Alcoa wheels which are hub centric with spacers, but I don't know how that would work. Maybe someone will let you know.

Hope that helps.

csevers & no neck,

I have a 99 dually 4X4. The studs are 9/16-18. The rear studs are too long to use a Performance Wheel 1 1/4 spacer and I too went to NAPA and bought shorter studs. I bought lug nuts from NAPA that are acorn style with open ends and that give enough clearance to get a socket inside to tighten them. It appears that the lug nuts are not making full contact on the face with the T6061 spacer and this make me leary of using them on the spacer. I tried Dodge but the 3/4 ton open lug nuts had a flange and the only other type were chrome closed nuts that would not work. Anyone have a solution to the lug nut seating issue or am I just being over cautious?

I have 2" spacers so I shouldn' t have a problem with stud length but the studs on the adapters are 14 x1. 5 mm communist metric thread. So I don't know if they make a flanged nut in that odd ball size for the outter most nut. I am only going to 235 tires but must have enough space between duals to haul heavy and not have rubbing.

I had a heck of a time finding the right studs around MPLS/ST. PAUL, MN. I tried a couple of auto parts local (Durand, WI) and no dice. I put a couple of Napa spacers (cheap / 1/2 in apiece i believe. ) It seems to go through the snow a little better, and not "float" on it. I live way out in the sticks on a lane and a half gravel road, and we're getting a lot of snow this year, and it's going thro it like never before!!
