Have a 99 24 valve dodge that exhibits hard starting after sitting for about 15 to 20 min. Ive replaced the tranfer pump, fuel filter, And injection pump and have not noticed a difference. I would appreciate any ideas regarding this problem.

By hard-starting, i mean extended crank time. it's not a starter or a battery issue. it just doesn't fire. cranks 7-8 seconds on a long sit.

It could be a starter. On all the truck I've had whenever the starter was going bad, the truck would start fine in the cold, but when the engine was warm it didn't want to start. I couldn't hear that the starter was weak just by listning to it but it just didn't have the power to crank the engine. Hope this helps.

Sounds like we need a bomb party at your house this weekend on your truck.

Hard Start

I think what Robs saying is that it's not firing vs a starter of battery issue... Rob, please correct me if I'm wrong.

kaybus, you are correct.

eric, i posted this for a friend... not my truck. . although i do have a few issues with my truck.

I had the same issue on my 2002. After the lift pump was replaced it was fine. But in a couple weeks it started taking 5-10 seconds to fire. If it sat 1-2 hours it would happen again. Finely took it into the dealer they said that the injection pump failed if fact they have it now waiting for the pump to arrive.

What's it doing? IIRC BB had same issuse and it was injection pump on his 99

Just a few thoughts- Check for any leaks in your fuel system- i. e. after truck sits is air being introduced in your fuel system? You also might want to check for algae & buildup from your fuel tank sump? just some other ideas.
