I was wondering if anyone jnows if 1999 power mirrors will fit my 96,,,my mirrors are rusted out inside and flop around a bit now,,,and i have a chance to get some used ones from a 99 and a 2000. .

Thanks

thanks for all the good advice and information,,,is there anyone who knows how i can hook up the heated portion of my new 2001 mirrors,,,or even where the switch is in the truck,

Heated mirror equipped trucks had a push button switch on the lower left of the climate control panel. There's more to it than the switch, though. There is a "control unit" of sorts, that would turn the heater panels off after a certain period of time.

Thanks for this post BigPapa! I just used it to wire 98+ mirrors into my 96. I like the way they look better than my originals and the glass is a little bigger. And one of mine had quit working anyway.

Has anyone worked out how to make the heat work?

Heated mirrors in Florida??!!!:eek::eek:

Do you need them to dry the humidity off the mirrors to be able to see?? :-laf:-laf

Don't laugh *too* hard! It might not happen often in Florida, but if you drive into a region of high humidity where the dew point is higher than the temp of the mirrors, vapor can condense instantly on the mirrors. And windows if the A/C is plenty cool. It's happened to me often enough.

Can you peer behind the glass? Should be wired with the little defoggers on the back side of the glass...

We get some bursts of heavy fog late in the evening/early morning during the summer months. Cool air blows in off Erie and mixes with the warm humid air and some mornings I have a hard time seeing 20 feet past my bumper going to work. Windshield wipers and defrost is a must on those days!
