Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 99 reflash

I have a friend who bought a 99 automatic with 4. 10 gears and he does not like the power or mileage. After a reflash the mileage is worse. Does any one know the best reflash to have better mileage and power. He has pulled a trailer and the truck did not have any power to pull in overdrive at 70 miles an hour. Thank jimk

Marco's reflash would be great... but how is one supposed to acquire said reflash? I thought he wasn't selling it yet...

I was told of a reflash by a guy who took a group of cummins engineers hunting that they had a reflash that would work. Or that is what was told to him. But like a lot of second hand info it could be a wash. I would be interested in the reflash by Marcos. jimk

Just had my truck "reflashed " today for a hard starting problem when it was warmed-up after I put a FASS system on it. I brought in a copy of the TSB I found here on the TDR and the dealer told me that they no longer have software upgrades for particular problems. What he said the do now is hook up the truck to there computer and it checks for which version of the software it has on it, if its the lastest the computer says so otherwise it upgrades it to the latest. Whether this is the truth or not I don't know but it took care of my problem and the truck seems to be running great so far.

It is a 14 foot stock trailer with 30 bales of hay. I don't remember the exact hp with a automatic at the rear wheels but it is not real exciting. He just wonts the truck to pull as much his one ton Chev with a 350 cubic inch engine. jimk

Does any one know if these are a good reflash. p/n 323730306j or is this a better one p/n56040199ad. My friend said that after the reflash the truck ran poorer? Any ideas? thanks jimk

The flash for the trans concern does not affect the engine running!!It is the pcm that is flashed... . no change to the ECM that controls the engine. The 306j number sounds like Ecm number. There are many different part # for software depending on Cal,federal,auto stick etc. The controllers on these trucks with our hardware will only accept updates that pertain to individual #
