My parents came from Arkansas to visit me in Southern Ca, last month, picked up my old 5th wheel and decided to make a vacation of the trip back. They made it to Winnemucca Nevada and the injection pump died on the truck. The truck was towed to a local diesel shop in Winnemucca. Its going to cost 2800 dollars to r&r the pump with a remanufactured pump. This sounds too high, especially for a remanufactured pump. Anyone have any contacts down that way? Thanks.

How close are they to Carson City? Carson Dodge is where John Holmes(member and TDR writer)works. They deal in a lot of Diesels(CTDs).

It does sound to high for remanufactured pump, should run about a 1000. 00 to 1500. 00 (2000 grand for new one is what I have read) the rest would be labor.

$1200 for a re-man VP. I wouldn't think labor would run more than about 5-6 hours. . I would think $1800 should cover it but..... Good luck!

The price may seem high to you. :-laf Ever been to Winnemucca? They can charge just about what ever they please. I will say it again, ever been to winnemucca? :-laf

On the up side they are lucky they are in Winnemucca, it could be worse.

Ben, call BRRATT [ROLFLAMO], ever been to Winnemucca? it is decent compared to the options. Short of the Nevada version of Bobby's Road Recovery And Towing Team (or what ever they are calling it now) they are in the best place.

Thanks for the replies... No I have never been to Winnemucca. Evidently they had it towed there, they broke down outside of town. My dad said that Winnemucca is about 130 miles from Reno along I-80. Mapquest from Winnemucca to Carson is 195 miles. I think that the towing bill to Carson would be too expensive. I will tell them to at the very least call Carson Dodge and see what can be done.

Ya, the options are really limited out there. Sorry for my sarcasm, getting to Winnemucca was probably one of the best things that could have happened to them. Out of town, “out there” is no place to breakdown. Help is gonna be what they make it.

Thanks for everyone's concern. Here's the latest, they broke down 60 miles outside of Winnemucca. The tow cost over $400 to pull the truck and the fifth wheel into town. They then found a diesel shop to do the repair that charged then the 2800. On a positive note, my dad said that the pump came from Dodge so it has a warranty.
