Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 99 with bad misfire

99 truck with edge ez, five speed, misses while idleing, under load, and just driving empty. when you drop a gear and rev the engine up on a hill it doesn't miss as bad. Tried to cycle the key three times and could not get any codes to come up. Does this trick work on the 99's? Could this be related to the EZ or maybe the Map sensor. Have not checked the connections of the EZ and will do so in AM to see if that has anything to do with it. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Check the wires for the EZ leading to the map sensor.

I checked all the connections and they seem tight. I will go to the parts house and get some di-electric and put in the connections and see if that helps. Any other ideas?
