As you may have heard my girlfriend is a proud owner of a new Cummins.

We saw a 3 piece tonneau cover on a Dakota at the dealership from DC. However it was not available for Rams. It enabled you to lift a section behind the cab on either side towards the bed. (like a toolbox) then had a rear lift like a traditional tonneau.

This is what she is looking for for her truck. :D

Anybody ever see an Animal like this?

The cover you are describing was available for Rams as of last year. It was originally designed and sold by Warn Industries, called the Aerocover. The original design had some problems with leaks however, I had heard they had pretty much taken care of that problem. The aforementioned cover was illustrated in the '98 Mopar accessories catalog (Ram catalog only back then)... possibly the '99 catalog too. If interested, it would be worth looking into as the thin Mopar accessories catalog is by no means complete as to what is actually available for any of the Dodge product line. I have a number of Mopar accessories for my Ram that aren't listed in the thin Mopar accessories catalog but are in the main catalog (available to look through at your dealer's parts counter).

Actually john, It's different than the aerocover. This was a painted fiberglass that would match the truck. The front part (cab forward) opened on the driver and passenger sides towards the side rails of the bed with gas lifts. Then the rear opened towards the Tailgate. A definate improvement over the existing fiberglass tonneau.
