Son home from Afghanistan, what would you do?

USA beach volleyball

That's a nice pit for those little cook-offs. But for the big competitions, you might need something a little bigger.

Maybe something like this. :D :D I've seen this one first hand, lemme tell ya, that is one big pit.

Hey Jumbo Jet thanks for the offer but I dont think I could afford to have you come all the way from Arkansas. But I bet your BBQ is pretty dang good and if Im ever down that way Ill look you up. :)

I know I've lived in Texas all my life, but some of yall are saying some stuff that is not really BBQ. I've never heard of BBQ that is Pork Loin, or salmon, or ..... ? We call that "grilling" something, not BBQ. :)

John, I do have to agree that sausage is my favorite kind of BBQ. :D

Andrew got it right, REAL BBQ is slow-cooked(smoked) over hickory coals, for hours. Steaks and all that, that's just grillin'.

Seems like most Yankees will cook meat just about any old way, pour BBQ sauce on it, and call it BBQ. I've only ever seen it done the right way, down south, slow- smoked. They might have a few places up north that can do it right, but I got tired of looking for 'em. :D I can personally attest that Maryland and Virginia and Alabama all have some mighty fine places to get a plate of pulled pork or ribs. And, the best BBQ I've ever had, wasn't in the white part of town. :D

Opinions will differ, I'm sticking to mine like molasses. :D

Johnny Ray's in LaPlata, Maryland, near Maryland International Raceway, and Golden Rule in Birmingham, Alabama are awesome.

Reminds me of back in the 80s when HD had a HOG rally in Asheville,NC about 6 of us rode up there. One day we were riding around and this one fellow wanted to eat some BBQ so we found a place that had BBQ and went in. I was looking at the menu and asked the waitress where the sausage was. She said they don't have any:eek: so I got some other kind of meat :( it was alright but nothing like we have in TEXAS :D

Something else I have noticed about BBQ in the north is the base for BBQ sause is different. In the north it seems that many use mustard as the start of their sause (even in Memphis), and in the south we use ketchup. I am not a big fan of the mustard sause.

In NC BBq is whole hog, cooked slow, in east vinegar based sauce, west tomato based. And yes BBq is a Noun, not a Verb. .

PS. -Texas BBq will work in a pinch...
