Just looking to see how many of you have had to replace the compressor on your truck and at what milage?

I have 93k on it and am just wondering if this is normal?

Thanks,

Derek

I had mine seize up in the middle of Navajo nation. 90,000 miles. Limped into Flag and installed the fan belt that bypasses the A/C compressor. Still have not replaced it. Probably won't.

It has got to get hot in NM? You just don't want the A/C or what? Just curious. I want to fix mine, parts seem to be getting more expensive though. Napa wants close to $500 for the compressor and then you have to change the dryer as well for them to warranty it...

A C compressor

Mine started leaking at the front seal. I replaced it at 440000 miles. I believe I paid about $300. I installed it and had a shop recharge the system.

I replaced the clutch on mine once. It worked well considering the color of the of the truck and the interior. If anything else in the system would have been wrong... I would have replaced the whole assembly (including the compressor). The clutch assembly on the 2001-2002 trucks is not the best design. The springs snap causing the clutch to slip, burn up and eventually fail. I have a couple friends with the same trucks. Both have had the exact same problem.
