A/C compressor howl

My A/C compressor seems to have developed a howl. Anyone else have this? If I'm idling and turn on the A/C and take off as I rev to go through the gears I can hear it howling as rpm increases. I swear the A/C must use 50 HP too. My ride sure doesn't get up and go as well with it on and that also leaves me a little suspicious that I may have a problem. I have the extended warranty, but I figured I would post here before I went and spent the $100 deductible to hear it is "normal".



Any ideas are appreciated.

Have you considered taking it to a place that specializes in automotive A/C repair and have them do the free 30 second 'look-see' with the hood up to give you an opinion ?

Sounds like the fan has cut in due to high head pressure in the condensor. After you drive it a mile or so does it quit down? If so alls well
