A/C DRAIN

Cranked up the truck today,flipped on the A/C and got a wiff of gym socks from the A/C vents for the first few seconds. Got home and parked in the drive with A/C running and no water was dripping under the truck. In Fla with the high humidity it should of been like a hose. I have not recieved my manuals yet and need help on the drain. I believe it is just below the drier and protrudes about 1/2 inch out of the firewall. I never seen a drain like this if that was it. The back of my pen would stick in about 3/4 inch and than stop. Anyone have this problem!!! Need to fix ASAP before water get on the carpet.

rock , there is a tsb on the gym sock smell , i think it has to do with the fact that the drain doesn't drain while running down the road because the air going under the affects the natural flow , some have added an extension to the drain to get it down where itr will drain , spray some lysol into the cowl vent while the a/c is on to kill the mildew that is growing in the heater ac box ... oh boy another beauty from DC

I read the TSB and talked to my dealer about it. He said that they actually take the evaporator apart and clean it with a brush and cleaner. That is a better solution than described in the TSB, but they still covered it under warranty.

After I got mine cleaned up I got in the habit of switching the controls to fresh air (just fan, no compressor) about 2 minutes from my destination. This dries the condensation off the evaporator so it doesn't sit wet in a hot vehicle like some lab experiment. I haven't had a problem since.

Thanks for the help, I can see why it will not drain while driving. Like I said in my post I never saw a drain like this, the air from driving blows in. I will look into a downdraft tube. Just think not even two months old and already growing mold. These seem like such simple corrections for DC, like the engine vent bottle relocation, WHAT GIVES DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate to ask where the water goes when driving!!!!!!!!!!

Read your post and found that a molded piece of 5/8" coolant bypass hose with a 90 ell in it seemed to work. Just had to trim the excess off and attach with a worm type hose clamp. The dealer did not have the constant tension type clamps that I would have preferred. #ad

I didn't discover my little A/C problem until I took the floor mats up to clean the carpet and voila, wet carpet #ad
. I realized what the problem was and put the heater hose ell on the drain and no more water.
