I bought my truck used about 4 months ago and when I got it, the temp setting could only be HOT or COLD. No in between which was ok because I like it COLD or the windows down. Well, here recently if I have to slow down quickly and sometimes just stopping at a redlight, the ac will change to full on heat. I have to turn it off for a few seconds and then turn it back on. Anyclue? I am going to switch out the panel with my boyfriends for right now and see if that helps at all. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like the AC is very low on refrigerant. Very easy to check/refill. When filling the R134a, have someone inside the vehicle bump the engine up just above idle. The will speed up the process and remove every last drop of refrigerant.

Refrigerant has already been checked/refilled. It just switches over to heat like I turned the temp knob over. It blows perfectly cold but then if I hit the brakes hard it changes to blowing really hot air.

In 98. 5 they switched to an electronic temp control instead of the cable. Just disconnected the blend door motor until we can pull the dash out to inspect it more. It was just spinning, so now I only have AC. It shouldn't change to heat upon stopping anymore, but I'd still like to fix it. Just later.
