I have an a/c leak in my 03 truck according to the dealer. The first trip to the dealer we did not know if we had a leak but the system was low on freon so they charged it up. About four months had passed the a/c started acting up again and one of the lines would freeze. Took it back to dealer whom said it leaked some freon out. This time he re-charged system and added dye and said come back in 4 weeks. Six weeks later returned truck to dealer so they could locate leak. After checking it, they said it cooled down to 40F and that they could not find any leaks. Two weeks later the a/c started acting up again. When you first drive it. It cools down but after you shut it off for a few hours while parked and then get going again it wont cool at all in the high speed fan setting. If you adjust to low speed setting. It will cooldown on drivers side but not passenger side. These are the exact same symptoms I had before the first freon re-charge. Has anyone had a similar experience with there a/c? I will be taking it back to the dealer in a few days. I appreciate any advice on this matter.

Thanks Marc

Do a search. Tons of info on ac problems with 3rd generations. Its LOW again and maybe more wrong then that. Lots of shops/dealers now add dye ANYTIME they rechage a system for a just in case. Twell the dealer to call STAR(tech assistance)they'll be able to fill them in.

my 05 actually shoots out freeon every morning when i turn it on. It always made a loud sound that i knew was not normal when i turned it on. However if i let it run for roughly 30 min it won't shoot out any. I had my wife start the truck and turn the a/c on and i actually saw the freeon cloud. Its been in the dealership three times now and they completely replaced my compressor but that didn't fix the problem. I'm now going to take it to a different dealership cause I'm done working with the one that i have been taking it to. I can't give you any ideas on what the problem is but your not alone in the a/c problem. Not to mention i live in Arizona so i'm really mad that it isn't fixed yet. Mine also gets warm on the passenger side first before it gets to the drivers side. Good luck though any any others with any ideas please give some advice or anything that will help.

Thats the thing, i don't know but i do know its freeon cause i have charged an a/c unit beofore. I'll probably take it to a trusty mechanic i know and have them look at it so i can really get an honest opinion on it as opposed to letting dodge screw around with it looking for a easy way out of the problem.

When I had my truck in for a regular service visit I complained about marginal A/C performance and they claim to have found a leaky evaporator core. It goes in later this week to have it installed. Hopefully the A/C performance improves. BTW the service writer claims the new one is a re-designed part, whatever that means.

ok When i see the freeon it is coming up from where the compressor is (down in that area somewhere). all i see is a cloud of freeon. I see it just hovering above the engine for a few seconds and then goes away.
