Is there a problem with my a/c compressor? Sometimes when I turn on the a/c unit or even if it's on when I start the truck is makes A loud click like the compressor sticks when it turns on. Second when I leave for work in the mornings and I have the door open the lights dim inside the cab then brighten I also noticed thea the marker and tail lights fluctuate but the headlights don't and it only seems to do it when the truck is cold in the morning warming up. is this normal? I'm an owner of a 2004, 3500, 4x4 Quad cab dually with the cummins 600 and a 6 speed transmisson. Any help would be appreciated.

Should I just take it to the dealer?

Thanks

NB, I guessing that you are new to the Cummins. The "click or clack" sound for the a/c is totally normal. That is the magnet engaging the clutch and you should hear it both on a/c and defrost.

The lights dimming is the "intake heaters". They cycle for 1 to 3 minutes after you start the engine to help warm it up. This again is normal operation for the cummmins in the dodge.

I hope this keeps you from worrying too much. There is a forum on here for frist time owners, you should check it out.

Yep, exactly what he said. The cummins has intake grid heaters to warm the incoming air for as long as the computer calls for it, unlike the PSD, which still has glow plugs i think. . not sure. .

Sounds like your 2004 is running ok. Just a little cold weather noises, nothing to be worried about.
