Has anyone else had a problem with this, its getting pretty hot in LA, and my A/C does get pretty cold, but the pressure is weak. I am sitting in my year old truck sweating like a stuck pig, I crank it from 1 to 4 and it doesn't really blast any harder, it just gets louder. It sounds like it's blowing hard, but the pressure doesn't change much as you crank it up. I was in my friends Toyota Rav 4, a car I can fit in my bed, and the A/C runs cold, I was freezing within a couple minutes, that is want I want in my truck.

My compressor just went bad on 12 hour trip in the hummid east. It is not closing the valve between the high and low pressure side. It sucks having a motor good for 350k and accessories that only last 125K. Good luck.

I have an '06, and never have issues with A/C. In the 90's today, cool as can be inside the cab. Definate difference in fan speeds, High will freeze me out in short order!

Tom.

If your truck was a Mega Cab I would say the screen that diverts flow to the rear seats is partially plugged, but since it is a Quad Cab it is more likely the recirc door has broken. Open the glove box, squeeze the sides together hard to allow it to rotate down from dash and watch the recirc door open and close when you change modes. With the fan on high you will hear the air moving or not moving in your case.

Can you see the actual door from there? I just posted in the non drivetrain area on a A/C problem, dropped my blower motor and found a piece of plastic in there, right above is a square flap/(door?) that is not attached to anything, is this the recirc door? Is there a way to rig it so I get max airflow from the dash, is this the problem where the whole damn dash has to come apart to fix? Thanks

I will pull the glove box today and take a look back there, but it looks like it's going in to the dealer soon for this. The only PIA is taking off my Six Gun before I drop it off.

There is a thread in the second gen forum about cleaning the fan a evaporator. It made a major difference on my 2001 and took about 20 min to do!

I had the same prob on my 06 quad cab. It was the vent door/recirc door. Can you hear air flowing back inside the dash? I just got it fixed two days ago. WOW... . I forgot how well the ac worked... I had become used to the crappy flow.

My AC compressor was HUMMING from day one off the lot. Took it back and they said it was all normal. 2 months later they reflashed for the long crank and it disappeared... But my AC is so cold on my 06 I have people complain to turn it down!!

Once you have the glove box removed, look to the right side of the HVAC and you will see an opening on the top. The door opens and shuts that opening for fresh air or recirc. For fresh air the opening is sealed, for recirc it is open to pull air from the cab.

My 03 had the same problem and does again. I live in AZ and it get damn hot. I first noticed my problem while I had the AC cranked up. It all of the sudden dwindled to hardly moving any air. Took it to the dealer and they said it was freezing up and when it does it shut it off for a minute and restart. I did and it worked great. They did replace the compressor and fixed some blend door issues. The compressor has worked great so far, but only one side of the dash blows cold, the other takes forever to cool down. I need to get in and find the problem in the blend doors.

I've never been happy with mine. In most of my vehicles, after you've been driving a while, you can put the fan back down to 1 or 2 and take it off recirculate. But in my truck, it doesn't can't keep it cool unless it's on recirculate and 2 or 3 on the fan even on long drives. Seems like it is pretty cool coming out, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

I'm not real impressed with the output on my '07 either. It cools down, but never gets ice cold like my '01 did.

Well I just got the truck back from the dealer, they had to change the HVAC recirculation door, they had to pull the entire dash to change it, the mechanic says they replace the entire blower assembly because it collapses inside and then just blows inside itself. So now I have great pressure, they had to recharge the system, so I am happy with the HVAC system. The only problem is that they didn't reinstall the dash correctly, the corners are sticking up a 1/4" near the windshield and the pillars don't line up, oh yeah and it is hard to get my truck out of park, I have to mess with it and press the brake real hard, so its going back, what a PIA. Looks like I get to drive a little gutless tin can for a couple of days again.

So, why did you even take it back. . I would've left it and told them to try again !! #@$%!

I didn't notice until a couple of hours later, now I know to go over thier work with a fine tooth comb, I assumed too much. Also they left a few extra grease marks on all my floormats. Looks like they try to get stuff done fast not right.

i have had an 03, 04. 5 still have an 05 and a 06 mega cab and all the hvac systems have been the same not worth a flip. i live in sw louisiana and it takes forever for the truck to cool down all of the trucks that is. but i can say this once you get to cruising for a while then you have to turn it down.

06 mega has to be the loudest of all though on 4
