A/C Problems

I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem with their A/C.



Occassionally after my truck sits over night, there will be a loud bang come from the motor as the relay for the A/C will turn on. This only happens once for the day and only happens the first time the relay for the A/C kits on. The dealership claims to have checked out everything and of course it is fine according to them.



The A/C works fine other than that. I called several dealers that work on many diesels and they have not seen this intermittant problem either.



Any help would be appreiciated.

A/C (Harsh Engagement)

Don't know what year your truck is, but mine is a 98. 5 and it has done it since new. The longer the truck sits, the harsher the A/C engages.

I have'nt had any problems with my A/C except for me installing a bad fuse (replaced with a good fuse, and it worked fine) and a small leak, (A/C was "warm")



I always turn off my A/C before I shut down the truck.

and my truck almost ALWaYS sits for 12+ hours before I turn it back on again.



I think It sounds really cool when I crank up my truck in the morning, I hit the starter, the engine starts, then I got the straight pipe thing happenin', with a little bit of turbo whine after a few seconds, and I have this real slight belt squeek for a few seconds, then I hit the A/C and I get the engine shock, and lug.



Sometimes when I hit the A/C, the A/C Clutch engages so quick that the truck will actually rock back and forth a bit.



Heh, Well, it looks like I got into telling a short story instead of what kinda effects the A/C clutch has had on my truck.

After a little over 100K miles, I still haven't had a problem with the A/C Compressor, or A/C Clutch.

Sounds like we are having the exact same problem. Mine is a 2001. I would really like to figure out what the problem is since it will just be my luck that my a/c will go out and my warranty is about over.
