It is a blend of R134a as a base and R 124. Used to reduce pressure at condenser and improve oil return, matches r12 pressures.

Yes, it is a drop in replacement for r12. I think the oil may have to be changed. Also have heard of some compressor problems, mostly by manf. But that may be due to the oil. Also may not cool as well as r12. FYI I'm not an A/C tech ony work in A/C , ref. supply.
