I've not done it with a Ram, but have done it to a couple of other pick-ups. I made a list of parts from the shop manual, then made a trip to my friendly salvage yard and pulled the parts. MUCH less expensive than buying a system "over the counter" from the dealer. Be sure to flush the lines, and get a new receiver/dryer. Good luck!!

In my course of searching for parts for my wifes '89 Dakota, I found a couple websites that sells OEM & AM AC parts for a wide variety of vehicles. Their prices seemed to be reasonable as opposed to what I assume DC might charge. I believe they offer at least 1 year warranty. I'll search around for the URL and repost after I find it.

Edit: I found two that work, the last one has been down for a while.

www.airpartsonline.com

http://www.azmobileair.com/

www.atcomail.com  (this one is down for some reason)
