A/C starts and stops frequently

When running my air conditioner, the compressor clutch kicks on and off every few minutes at idle. It cools just great. Is this normal?

Just had my compressor changed out. Renewed the dryer and orfice valve as well. 800 bucks later its working good again.



The problem I had was the clutch bushing at the bearing was bad. The clutch was running 1/4" off Center. When I would get on the pedal the clutch would let go.

It also would let go above 55mph. Never seen one do that. The other two trucks I known have 154k and 191k on them with

no problems with the A/C Compressor yet. Mine went out at 75k. Just some info.

When my A/C is on and the engine is idling, the compressor will shut off for about 5 seconds, probably every minute or two. I think one of the pressure switches is switching off and back on. I just wasn't sure if this is normal or not, or whether there could be too much freon in the system.
