Anyone know what the temperature of the a/c air should be coming out of the vents? I think mine is slowly getting worse.

Thanks.

What, pray tell, do you need AC down there for? It ain't Arizona you know!

Thanks for hooking me up with this TDR stuff. I'm $500 bucks poorer and wearing a big ole' crap eating grin on my face when I rip down the highway.

When ya heading out to PIR?

vc,

I don't know what it should be, but mine will blow about 40-45 degree air.

Granted, the highest summer temps we see are in the low 90's (usually).

One thing to keep in mind too. While sitting still, my air only gets down to ~55 degrees. I think it really helps to be moving to get it cold.

The supply air is based on several things. First, do you have the selector set on one of the fresh settings or recirc. Second is the ability of the condenser to get air flow, yes a moving vehicle helps as does RPMS. Thirdly, the heat and humidity load outside. With clean coils, on recirc you should see low 40's.

Mine blows at 48 degrees. My A/C mech friend said he has seen some cars blow in the high 30s!. My A/C had an evaporator leak which I fixed with Super Seal on Aug. 20th, 2001 and it is still blowing cold. Package of Super Seal runs about $20... I know Checker and CarQuest carry them.

My Temps

I can see 45 at the vent if it is below 90 and the AC has been on for a while. If it is above 90 I will see around 50 degrees. I thought the temps were lower until I started measuring them. Always feels comfortable no matter how hot and humid it gets, seems to move a lot of air.

Toby,

I've been on and off it, hopefully now on again coming out tuesday.

Fatboy,

on recirculate, driving at highway speeds, currently it fluctuates from about 55 degrees on the high side to around 48 degrees on cold side. It can fluctuate this much on any given trip. These temps with fan speed on low. If fan on higher speeds, the temp warms up more.

Koa Man,

30's!? Woohoo!! that's what I'm talking about. I want it.

DaveD,

it use to "feel" colder and then started to "feel" wimpier and I got a thermometer to check it and those are the temps I posted above.

What do you air conditioning repair guys have to say about Super Seal? I hesitate to add anthing to my Freon without first checking it out with the AC guys. They usually won't work on a system that's been contaminated!

There's a table in the manual for discharge temp based on outside air temp. BUT piece of advice, check to see if you cycling switch is cutting the comp in/out more than 8 - 10 per min. If so then check your system pressure. I found my cycling switch was going south, first it locked out (rapid cycling - no AC) then it locked in (froze everything up) the whole time my charge level was fine and all I needed was a $15. 00 switch!. (If it locks in) it will run your AC even unscrewed from the accumulator!!
