B.T.W a little more on the 6.0 L Powerstroke

I have a 2002 Ram2500 -yes of course its a diesel. When I shut it off _after a proper cool down of the turbo - as it soon as it shuts off - there is a chirp - kind of like a fan belt chirp! Anyone else have this - the truck only has 7000 miles on it - but don't remember this chirp sound before - doesn't always do it tho. .

i noticed that all the auto's do it,and hardly any of the 6 speeds chirp. Its totally normal,if you dont like ita goodyear gatorback belt is said to not chirp at shutdown,i like it so i left my stocker on:D

OK thanks - just didn't want something to be overlooked - It doesn't really bother me and yes it is an Automatic...

:)

All three of mine have chirped. Even my 5 speed. If this one ever quits, I'm going to by another Mopar belt so it'll chirp again. :D

What kind of oil are you using? Sometimes small birds are attracted to Rotella T. Have you noticed any feathers in your engine compartment? :-laf :-laf :-laf

Ahh yes the chirp after the shudder as that wonderful music comes to an end.

It freaked me out too at first. I guessed it was normal and thankfully it was. :D

Whenever i shut down and there people around and it chirps, you get all sorts of "What the??" looks from everyone. Are the 03'S doing itm too?

Yup

I've had two 5 speed Cummins Rams,

one a 3500 and my current 2500. Both

would chirp at engine shutdown but

not all the time.

I think it is parly caused by the weight

of the engine cooling fan, which is

working more often in the heat of

summer. The fluid clutch may be some

what engaged and it takes a second

to stop the mass. Anyone else agree?
