My grandfather passed away on January 15. He stated in his will that he wanted to be hauled from the mortuary to the cemetary in his Cummins with American flags and a Marine corp flag, with his sons and grandsons trucks behind him.

he was in his 96 cummins, followed by my uncle in his 04. 5 3500 cummins, followed by me in my 98 2500 cummins, then my dad in his 98, then my uncle in his (outcast) 02 GMC, then my other grandpa in his 02 3500 cummins, then my uncle in his 02 3500 cummins and then a bout 45 other misc trucks following. The front 11 trucks flew american flags for him.

there are some pictures of my truck with some of the flags in my gallerey.

Boy you must have been proud to have traveled in that convoy, I sure

would have been had my grandads lived long enough for me to do that.

Sorry for your loss.

My condolences to you on your loss.

On a lighter note, this sounds like a perfect post for the "You know you're a dieselhead when... " thread!

Sorry for your loss powerwagon, i know the feeling my dad had a triple bypass around a year ago and a month after his surgery my mom passed away it's very hard to let go of a loved one. I would of liked to see the line up of trucks coming down the road, had to be an awesome sight.

Paying one's respects

Pwerwagn,

That is a touching story. Anyone who doesn't understand why that was a cool thing to do, doesn't understand what it means to be american. ;)

My condolences to you & your family.

What a great tribute to a man who obviously was proud to be an American, proud of his heritage, & loved & cherrished his family along with his choice in trucks.

pwerwagn,

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss. Your Grandfather would be of the age where he served in WWII, which pretty much automatically makes him a hero in my eyes. Once again, sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys. This is what makes this place so great. Im not talking about just the Website, but the country as a whole. this place is wonderful.

I feel that absolutley anyone who has served this country, whether it be a Marine, Navy, Army etc, is a hero. period.

I'm sure he was very proud looking down. And I bet my grandma was looking down wondering what the heck we were doing, and asking my grandpa "why does Jeff's truck smoke so much?"!!!!!!

thanks again guys.
