Engine advice...

I found a gentleman who has 2 1997 12V (pickup) engines for sale. Both have 30K miles more or less. He bought them to mock up accessory parts. Currently they are sitting in the machine shop on engine stands with the pans off.

They are basically long blocks with injectors and pump.

The harmonic ballancer is there along with most of the pulleys.

There are supposed to be intake and exhaust manifolds.

There are turbos but the hot side housing was seperated from the rest.

There are supposed to be a collection of other parts but I know for a fact that there is NOT p/s pump/vaccum pumps.

Price is $3000 each but he wants to sell both of them. I cannot do both but might be interested in one.

Does this sound like a good or bad deal and is anyone else interested in one of them? They are located in the Dallas Ft Worth metromess.

if they are good running motors ... turbos are good... ect its a good deal. Most used engines I've seen are about 5K.

I'd love to get one too but i'm tapped for a month or two.

I hsve been told, by a man that runs a small fleet of Dodge pickups, that the core value on a rebuilt engine is $3,800. So yes it should be a good deal. It all depends on what you have and what you need to complete the install. I assumed that since you were on this section of the board that you are planning a conversion.
