I changed my transmission gear lube tonight and put in a new filter. The one that came out was pretty dirty, almost looked like it was going to disintegrate. After 42K miles I guess that should be expected. I'm changing gear lube every 30K miles from this point on. The gear lube has a dark golden color to it and smells normal (which is to say, like I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER). No metal chips in the lube or on the bottom of the transmission housing, so I couldn't have beat it up to badly. Any suggestions on an easier way to get the new lube into the transmission instead of on the driveway or in the armpits
On the other hand, it kills the sand gnats so I guess it's a tradeoff
