New BD Brake and a few ???

Ok I have a few questions, they are really so that I am sure things are in the proper condition. I installed my 16 cfm ex. housing and my (new) BD- BRAKE (courtesy of 4 RAM TRACKS) and I have everything running to what I believe is correct. So my questions are.

1. ) Those of you that still have the HX-35 and went to a larger housing did you notice any change in temp? both pulling good sized loads or empty?

my ans. ) I havent seen any change as far as temps at certain speeds on certain hills or declines. But what I have noticed is that the temps get to 1000 quicker but over that it takes it longer to get hotter (hope that made sense). And also it comes back down in temps a little quicker.

2. ) Im not sure how to phrase this question. But did your turbo whine get a little more pronouced, and sound a little more *airy* than before?

Now on the brake. First let me say HOW DID I EVER LIVE WITHOUT THIS THING:eek:  But I again have a few questions.

3. ) let me try and describe what it sounds like (keeping in mind I have 4" downpipe to dual 4" stacks. ) But when I engage the brake it sounds like an industrial blower is being turned on? Is this correct? It is more pronounced when I am empty.

4. ) Am I the only one that is having trouble to get the foot pedal to activate the throttle switch for the auto feature? If not what did you guys do make it work properly?

5. ) One last question. Am I the only one to ADD 5 lbs of boost doing this? The truck is still pretty much stock as far as inj. and plate but those are in the garage just waiting for another rainy day. Before if i built 28 #'s I did good. Now I hit 32ish with out blinking.

Sorry for the long post.

TIA

My setup is sorta close to yours so here is my thoughts. After the 16cm housing (no wastgate) install my boost stayed the same (40lbs) as with my 12cm with waste gate and boost fooler. I thought boost would go down some but it didnt. Cant tell on turbo noise due to bad hearing. EGTs now take longer to get where they usually go and cool quicker.

The foot switch has slots in the switch mounting bracket to allow movement for adjustment, call BD if it gives you trouble. Adjust it so the switch is depressed when there is no pressure on the pedal and opens with some movement. You should hear it click when it is activated in each position.

Russell,

I put a 16 on my truck after the 370's. What you're seeing with your temps are comparable to what I saw. I also put in a valet switch to help keep things a little cooler. Most of the time I am running in valet mode, especially towing, which really slows the temps from climbing. As far as turbo whine goes, mine actually went down. My 12 really screamed compared to the 16. I'm thinking of putting the 12 back on just to hear it. :D, (and do a little more testing). I can't tell you about boost numbers, because once I hit about 36, I back out. I can tell you, the 370's enhanced my boost, and I already had them in when I put the 16 on. I could only do between 28-30 before the 370's. Now I don't know how high it will go. When I'm ready to spring for an HX-40, I might try and find out. :)

The exhaust brake. I have a Pac-brake, and I don't know how I lived without it. It does sound like an industrial blower, and it doesn't't matter whether I'm loaded or not.

The foot-switch. This was fun. I installed mine just before a trip to Alaska, from Maryland. By the time I got to Ak, I had it adjusted exactly like I wanted it. It was a PITA. I probably adjusted it a dozen times, at least. Don't run cruise with it on. Did that once and things almost got ugly. Switch was still mis-adjusted, and exhaust brake stuck on while accelerating. 1400 on the pyro real quick. Fortunately, it was only a couple of seconds before I realized what was going on, and I got it shut down.

Have fun. You'll like the injectors and plate.

thats more along the line i was hoping to see a response to. And I am happy to hear that mine isnt the only one to sound like an industrial blower.
