Hello TDR,



This is my first post. This past weekend I bought my first new vehicle, which so happens to be my first truck, my first Dodge and my first diesel. I've been cruising this site for some time and the amount of information I've learned from the members here is amazing. This site has a very large, deep and open knowledge base. I bought a 3500 4X4 Quad cab SRW 600 6-spd. It should arrive in about 8-10 weeks according to the dealer. I'm planning to buy either an ARE or Leer cap in the coming weeks so I can get it on the truck right away. I ordered the factory bed-liner. I looked into the spray in kind but couldn't mentally handle sanding out a brand new bed. Are there any spray in liners that don't require a sanded finish to adhere to?

They only rough up the paint with the spray in liners. It is still there. Just think about how much that bedliner is gonna scratch up that paint and maybe that will help change your mind! Congrads on the new truck, you'll wonder why you never owned a Dodge before.

Yes, I suspect that after I drive it for a while I'll pull the liner out, see the scratches and won't feel so bad to have it roughed up further for the spray in liner. It's all in my head I know.



Should I have the truck undercoated? Some people have told me that it actually seals in the moisture and rust's it out faster then if you just leave it alone.



The wait for the truck is going to tougher then I thought...

i have the bedrug with the truxedo tonneau cover (check pics). it is a great combo. the tonneau keeps the water, snow and dirt out, and rolls up in about 30 seconds even when cold. i regularly haul old nasty pallets and the rug is just fine. i vacuum it about once every 2 weeks and it still looks great.

NOT TRUE. My old truck had the Dodge plastic drop in liner. Within a year, I had a rust spot as big as a quarter behind the driver side rear wheel well. Pulled it out, sold the plastic, and got a Rhino. Application was not very good and so I think I will try Line-X on new rig, IF and WHEN it ever gets here.



Went D1 status on 2-27, Est Ship date 3-12. Waiting can be a killer. Driving the wife's car is not much fun.

Rust perforation is a thing of the past. The coastal states and islands RUST is much more prevalent then the salt belt states. Rust perforation is non existant this day and age. Not surface rust but rust perforation.

That is correct, don't waste the money on undercoating. The metal has a coating, looks gray under the truck. My 97 never rusted underneath.
