Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) A "How do you?" question

How do you remove the battery lead from the starter? Just got my starter un bolted to check it out and cant see how to get the hot lead of.

Do I need to destroy the rubber boot covering the connection or pull the thing out with the cable attached?

If you are talking about the rubber boot that protects the end of the cable it should slide back to reveal a nut which secures the lug end to the starter. If the whole post starts to rotate there should be a jam nut between the cable end and the starter body to hod the stud.

Thanks. It seems to be more of a hard plastic than rubber and not to plyable. Looks like it might be heat shrunk to the cable.
