Just when I thought things had hit rock bottom here, I happened across a small ad in the East Oregonian for a system administrator. The ad said they wanted someone with networking, software and hardware skills for the PC platform and familiarity with automotive products.
Well, after responding to the ad by phone, I was asked to come in for an interview and a knowledge base test, which I must have aced or at least got an impressive score, because they called me back and hired me on Friday.
I was loath to take the position, but they did assure me that I can complete my degree and they'll help pay for it. Further, the job pays better than I had even dreamed of, and includes full medical and dental insurance and a new truck!
There is a minor drawback... It's administering the parts system for a group of GM dealerships, and the new truck is a Duramax. Of course, I have to be loyal to my employer, so I'm probably not going to be allowed to post here much anymore. Certainly, I can't be critical of GM's fine diesel products from now on.
I've really enjoyed my time here, and perhaps some of you can stop by the 62-65 dieselpage and say "Hi" from time to time.
