Michelin recalls 841,000 tires

Mike,

Gizmo gonna get fitted for a roof mount 5th wheel to tow your Cougar 5'er. Seen it on the web, been done before but with a real Beetle. Think of it towing your 5'er and getting 40+ MPG at the same time.

Yes, I have seen that video somewhere. I loved the way you could spin the Beetle around and push the trailer backwards... ... . :-laf

My parts runner asked me that very same question the day that I brought Gizmo down on his maiden voyage... . I'll see if I can find the video later and get it linked.

Mike. :)

I don't think it will work. It should be a dually with 4. 10 gears. The Beetle had an advatage with rear wheel drive however if you moved the fifth wheel off the roof and installed it on the hood..... plus he would be in the shade too... .

Nick,

What if Mike converted it to a 4WD Jetta? Need a donor platform to steal some parts from, cutting torch, bondo, couple of can of spray paint, ready for the Jetta AWD with E-Brake and #10 plate to make its maiden 40 MPG run with Cougar attached. Mike, make sure you get a MaxBrake for it.

Mike,

Been looking for a car for the wife and looking at 200's also. They are not a brand new car, compare the inside to the Avenger. It is exactly the same car, even under the hood everything is exactly the same, same position even. Don't know how long the Avenger has been around but at least a few years. She has been driving a 98 12 valve for the last 10-12 years and loves her truck but a car would be nice sometimes too.

From what I read they gave the 200's a facelift in 2011 and did what they could but the platform itself has some age on it. The one that I tried sat nicely but the dash layout needed improvement in my opinion. Also had concerns about how well the headlights were going to perform. Projector lights are not my favorite for night driving here in the land of deer and moose.

I think that the Dart is going to be worth watching, if you get a chance try one out. I was really impressed and I hate cars as a rule.

I must confess that I am warming up to Gizmo, the more I drive it the more I like it. The fuel gauge is the best thing to watch at this point... ... . :D
