you want to talk about FALSE advertisement!!! diesel will beat gas in any challenge! show me what vehicle got the same mpg either gas or diesel. i just took a 4400 mile trip hauling a helicopter cross country with m dad(using his 91 chev 2500 GAS) loaded we got 7. 5 mpg and barely pullled the hills at 30mph. unloaded we got 12. 5!!! after we arrived back from our trip, i had convinced him to get a diesel. needless to say he bought one a few days ago. my truck gets 16mpg loaded. do the math and tell me which one is cheaper. And for the record diesel is cheaper that gas at the pump.

A friend

I'm glad I'm not the only one to be annoyed by this. As others have said, renting a moving truck/trailer is never ideal. My wife and I are moving to Reno from Nashville. Its sort of a slap in the face to own my truck and yet have to rent something. I don't own a trailer and Uhaul's biggest trailer isn't big enough. We're currently looking at the Penske trucks, but my wife would have to drive the moving truck while I towed her car on a car trailer behind my truck, which is far from ideal for a lot of reasons. She has never driven anything bigger than her car, so neither of us are very excited about her having to do that. I'm still trying to come up with some better ideas, I might go post in a more appropriate forum to see if anyone has any better ideas around here.

They drop the container in your driveway, you pack it, they pick it up and deliver it to your new place... He said it was cheaper and less hassle than a Uhaul...

About 10 yrs ago I helped my boyfriend move from FL to Colorado. Loaded to the hilt, pulling a loaded trailer with the mud truck, tool boxes, shop tables, etc. Of course, I had to move Mr. Wonderful back after 4 months.

It was a U-Haul diesel out there and Penske gasser on the return trip. Both were slower than Christmas past. Top speed was close to 64 going downhill through the Ozarks. All seem to have "governors" that are computer controlled, so cheating by overriding it doesn't work! Mpg was about 4 with either truck. The U-Haul did break down once and the heater stopped working in the midst of a major snowstorm in the Ozarks. That was interesting, cause I could have filled a case full of cuss jars trying to see through a half frozen windshield.

Oh, if you have to go through all 484 miles of Kansas, you may want to figure out what those "sectors" mean when the weather guys get all wound up on the radio about "tornado activity". I didn't have a clue what "sector" I was driving in - it was the interstate! I just know it was a long drive looking at the same huge black clouds. That was when Mr. Wonderful transformed into Mr. Psycho. 36 long hours of locked in a truck with a madman. Glad to have that nightmare wayyyyy behind me - LOL!!
