2nd Gen UTE Bumper

Clueless... mechanical inquiry/help please!

Actually...it was a female teenager, most likely still in high school.

Her reply was.....I was in her blind spot. o_O She repeatedly apologized. Trust me.....if that was a drunk or a person on crack or meth, there was a phone call being made.

I was just talking to someone on another forum that had a minor rear end collision with his Ram and travel trailer. Someone cut him off in traffic and he couldn't get stopped in time. Front bumper damage on his truck and likely fairly heavy damage to the car he hit.

Perfect example of why running these dash cameras is a good idea.

I remember when defensive driving had nothing to do with technology.

So do I. However, a rear end accident like I described above will result in an at fault insurance claim and/or a traffic ticket. Video evidence can go a long way in to providing details of an an accident and assist in properly finding fault by the insurance companies and law enforcement.

I've been driving with a dash cam for years now after I got T-boned by an off duty fireman with steroid rage who took off and drove several miles to an out of district police station, where the desk cop (his girlfriend) had a ticket and huge attitude waiting for me. The accident was his fault. He later tried to call and work a deal after he found out the car he hit wasn't mine but belonged to a police Lieutenant in his Fire Stations District. The Lieutenant had purchased it for his daughter whom I was dating at the time.

Fireman never showed up to court and ticket was thrown out, but I promptly purchased a dash cam. Oh, and the insurance determined he was at fault because he hit me in the rear quarter at low speed.

More STOOOOOPIT on I-40 West near Brownsville, TN.

Gotta love these South Of The Border folks towing.....sometimes up to three cars at a time.

There is a setting to turn off the MPH in the recording, Useful to NOT show doing 72 in a 65 before the SHTF. Make em work for it.

Also the GPS (at least on the 45) is so slow to update the speed it won't show "0" at a stop sign for longer than most sit still.

Last these camera's have a long boot up time after startup before they start recording. Say if you are leaving a parking lot in a hurry when a riot starts: it will not record like the first 20 seconds.

Incorrect. That section of I-40 is 70 mph. It is 65 mph near Jackson, TN.

That section of 40 sucks bad. Truckers love to “drag race” all along that corridor. They’re horrible. One truck plugging up the entire interstate doing .002 mph faster than the other. Trucks out the wazoo there as well. It’s always nerve-wracking along there later in the day.

Not to mention all the cops that LOVE to pull you over and scatter your stuff all along the highway.

I hear ya!! I travel that corridor somewhat frequently. Forgot you’re down in that neck of the woods. Additionally....I was right at about 34,800 lbs GCW following that train of schitttttt.

Got stopped for a routine inspection at the Brownsville Weigh Station, not far from where all the mess took place once. When I questioned a THP CVE officer.....as to why they don’t do anything about those two and three car “trains”.....he said they were afraid they’d get the “profiling” card pulled on’em. That’s fine.....don’t do your job, but give someone with a DOT an MC number schittttt whenever you like. Makes perfect sense.....

I did mention that if I ever got hurt by these folks towing stupid stuff, I’d certainly recall the conversation. I have his name and badge number on an inspection report in my 3 ring binder.....with a special post-it note on it.
