A friend has a 1994 CTD less than 65000 miles auto trans

he lives where there is no internet access and has this on going problem I talked him into buying a CTD and right now he is not very happy any help please. thank you in advance.

1st

new throttle cable installed

2nd

radio burned up really

3rd

turn signal stayed on when the turn sig switch was off and the key was off

4th

going down the hwy in cruise control or not when brake was applied the truck would try to die after. stopping when tried to restart truck would not restart had to wait a while before the truck would run again and this time the truck would not start at all. had to have towed last time

5th

one mech. thought it was the cruise control disconnected the cruise drove it for a few days no problem then it started to act like the cruise was still on even though the cruise was disconnected.

All this started when the throttle cable was replaced

There is a possibility that something got shorted out when the throttle cable was installed although that seems unlikely.

The trouble he is having is almost certainly an electrical problem.

If the radio failed and burned, it may have overloaded it's power circuit long enough to cause damage elsewhere. My first guess would be in the ignition switch since the radio and most other devices are fed through it.

The next, and more costly, possibility would be a damaged PCM.

You really need a service manual to check out the different circuits involved.
